Origami Christmas Tree

I can't believe I haven't posted on my blog for over a month. I've made another trip to Pittsburgh to settle my dad's estate and time just really seems to have flown by. As Christmas approaches I can't help but have wonderful memories of my parents and all the special things they did to make the holidays so magical for us. Although the memories are comforting, they are bittersweet. While remembering, I have often found myself crying when I really should be smiling. My emotions seem to be on a rollercoaster and I'll be very thankful when life starts smoothly coasting along again. Ok, enough of that!!!

I'm sharing a card today that is just one of several I made this weekend. My friend, and fellow SU demo, Sharon taught me this origami fold last year and I love these festive little trees. They are super easy to make and all you need is your favorite designer paper, some cardstock (SU whisper white, riding hood red, always artichoke, ribbon (SU Riding Hood Red) and a greeting. The greeting I have used is by Papertrey Ink. I hope you enjoy the card and thanks for coming back to visit. I promise I will try to do better in the future.

I love the Bella stamps and really enjoy coloring them. This little Bella is coming to wish you a very BIG birthday sitting on her sparkly cupcake topped with a jeweled cherry. All coloring was done with those fabulous Stampin' Up Watercolor Crayons.

See you soon.

Another Snowman

I seem to be continuing my cold weather dreaming. Today's share is another Christmas snowman. This snowman is from Inkadinkado. He is embossed with sparkling white embossing powder. Although you can barely see it on the scan, the card background is covered in small snowflakes embossed in clear embossing powder.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Inkadinkado Winter Friends
Cardstock: Real Red, Whisper White
Accessories: Ticket Corner Punch
See you soon.

Riding Hood Red

I love Riding Hood Red, the color is so rich. It is one of the In Colors introduced in the Fall-Winter 2008 catalog and will be available only until August 2009.

The card I'm sharing was made by me earlier this week for a swap with other demonstrators and traded at our monthly meeting tonight. I really enjoy participating in these swaps because it is so much fun to see what other demonstrators are doing with the Stampin' Up sets. I have gotten so many ideas, new techniques, colors combos, etc. from doing these swaps. I will probably share some of the swaps with all of you later.

The stamped image here was done with Riding Hood Red ink stamping once, shifting the stamp slight to the right and stamping again to obtain a second muted image.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: SU Upsy Daisy and Pocket Silhouettes
Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
Designer Paper: SU Ski Slope
Inks: Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Small Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, SU Dimensionals
Thanks for stopping by.

Winter Cabin

I guess the somewhat cooler weather here in Florida is making me wish for winter. Can't you just feel the warmth from the fire burning in this snowbound cabin?

This card is made with another of the wonderful Stampin' Up sets. Although this card was very easy to make I think it it has an elegant feel to it. I wish my scan was better so you could see the sparkle on this card because Dazzling Diamonds really gives it that finishing touch.

All supplies used are Stampin' Up except the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.

Stamp Set: SU To You & Yours
Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Gray
Ink: Basic Gray
Accessories: Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds, Ticket Corner Punch, Large Oval Punch

Thanks for visiting and be sure to come back soon.

I Wish It Would Snow!

I wish it would snow in Florida again. The last time it did was in 1989 when my son was born.

I know, some of you probably think I'm out of my mind, but having been raised in Pennsylvania I really miss the winters there. My mother didn't often let us out to play in the snow. Her father had died of pneumonia when she was very young and she was afraid we would all get sick. But when we could go out we usually made the most of it.

My dad was a milkman (back in the day when milk was delivered door to door), and some of my best winter memories are of helping him deliver the milk. We lived in a neighborhood that was entirely built on several steep hills and once you got down to the bottom with your vehicle you couldn't get back up to the top in the snow. Dad would park the milk truck at the top of the hill we lived on and we would walk up, pick up the orders and carry them to the waiting customers on our street and the streets on either side of ours (which were also unpassable hills). Believe me when I tell you that we always prayed real hard when we got our metal basket full of bottled milk. You didn't dare break any of those precious bottles. On days like that the customers only got their regular standing order (there weren't going to be any add-ons like eggs or juice). It was one trip per customer. Once the deliveries were all done we could stay outside to play, if we wanted, but we were always so cold and tired that we usually went in to warm up.

Since I have shared one of my winter memories I want to share a snowman card that is made with "Frosty Friends" from Great Impressions Stamps. I hope you enjoy it!

Inspired by Nature

Today I would like to share a card that was made with Stampin' Up's "Inspired by Nature". This is one of the new sets from the 2008 Fall-Winter catalog and was first on my "must have" list. I used the fantastic Stampin Up' markers that so perfectly match our card stock. I colored directly onto the stamp and then misted lightly with water in order to obtain the water color look that softens the image.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Stampin' Up Inspired by Nature
Cardstock: Always Artichoke, Ruby Red, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: Small & Large Oval Punches, Cinnamon Stickles, SU Markers

Thanks for stopping by today.

Thank You!

As I mentioned in a post in August my father was extremely ill. He passed away on September 5th and this has been an unbelievably difficult period for me. I want to say thank you to those people that were kind enough to extend their sympathies to me and my family.

I am sharing a card with you that was received from Lee Conrey, my Stampin' Up upline. This card uses "Lovely as a Tree" that is a Stampin' Up must have set. The photo doesn't do this card justice because it is really beautiful in real life.

Celebrating Zebra

After suffering through Tropical Storm Fay, being off work Thursday & Friday and spending that time at home with no electricity I was very thankful to see the sun on Saturday morning. I picked up my sister, went out for dinner at the Olive Garden and then spent the evening cropping and stamping at my LSS. A good friend of mine was there also and kindly told me that I needed to update my blog because it had been too long since I posted. (RA you were right) I felt it only fitting that I post the Celebrating Zebra in honor of my escape from gloomy, rain-filled, no electricity boredom. The stamps used on this gate-fold card are from Great Impressions. Enjoy!

Thank You Card

My son graduated from high school this year and I thought I would share with you the thank you card I made for him to use. This card uses a new find of mine the Just Rite monogram stamper that you can find here. I purchased an extra small alphabet so I could create more than just the monogram. On this particular card I added his first name along with the initial. I can see so many uses for this monogram stamper and just had to have it (as usual). I will share more of my creations using this product as I design them. Thanks for stopping by!

New Stampin' Up! Fall/Winter Catalog

Hello Everyone!

I can't believe it has been so long since I posted. I can only say that life, in general, has taken up most of my time and another part has been spent stressing over my dad who lives in Pittsburgh and has been in bad health for a long time and has recently had a major health shakeup. It is so very difficult when you live 1,000 miles away from an elderly parent.

Now back to the reason I am writing this post. The new Stampin' Up! catalog for Fall/Winter has come out and orders can be placed starting today. This catalog is fabulous!!! You can view the catalog by clicking on the picture at right. All the NEW stamp sets are die cut and the new papers are beautiful. Stampin' Up! is even having a 15% off sale on selected new stamp sets. The sales flyer can be seen at this link (Sale Stamps). This sale is running from August 11 thru September 30, 2008. Weekend Hello

Welcome back! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Today's share is a card I made yesterday. This is for my nephew's birthday and is made with Beerafella from Stamping Bella . Beerafella was stamped with Stazon black ink and colored with Stampin' Up! watercolor crayons. The colors scanned much softer than they are in real life. I absolutely love working with these crayons and would recommend them to everyone. They're the best. I have gotta get this posted now or I'm going to be late for the celebration dinner. Please come back again soon.

Happy Anniversary

Although a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I have to admit to an addiction to all brands and types of rubber stamps. I want them!! I need them!!

Today I wanted to share the card I just finished for my husband for our anniversary on the 17th. This card uses stamps by Gina K Designs. This set is called Owl Always Love You and has several great images to choose from.

I first stamped the image, colored with my Stampin' Up! stampin' write markers and then used a Versamark pen over that and applied clear embossing powder to my image. After the image was finished I applied Colorbox chalk ink in four different shades of blue with a sponge dauber to obtain the shading for my sky. I added my sentiment on Stampin' Up dimensionals and then finished it off with googly eyes for the owls.

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed making it.
